Every previous iPhone release came with a measurement for “Audio Playback” hours in the battery life section of the tech spec sheet in addition to Video playback hours. I’ve always found this a useful measurement of how the battery performs with less demanding tasks like texting, reading ebooks, listening to non-streamed music, etc.

The 17 series is the first year this information has been omitted.

Anyone else notice this? Maybe it was left out to make the Air battery life seem better than it actually is in normal-use situations?

EU battery tests are different and by every battery testing metric and test, show the iPhone Air battery is as good or better than the iPhone 16 Pro and all previous non-Max iPhones ever.

Good info. I’m curious to read what the reviews say when the embargo gets lifted in a few days.

Yes, many people noticed this. Apple's video playback test for iPhone 17 series no longer includes speaker audio output either.

EU battery test parameters involves measuring battery life with device at standby for 80% of the time.

Everyone has a different metric.

From EU labels:

17 Pro Max: 53 h
16 Pro Max / 16 Plus: 48 h
17 Pro: 47 ho
17: 41 h
Air: 40 h
16 / 16 Pro: 37 h
