The scenario is this, you mount an external drive full of music and you want to play songs without importing them.
If you open an audio file from Finder, iTunes automatically imports & plays the song. I just want to be able to browse the contents of the drive in app and play, but not import. I'm assuming this would lack metadata, but that might be a trade off.
Sure it's possible to right click in Finder and 'open with' and usually play one bleeping song at a time. But that's not acceptable.
To no avail I've tried:
iTunes
Miro
VLC
Songbird
Real Player
MPlayerX
