Audio Problemo

Hey folks, I have some Harman/Kardon Soundsticks plugged into a USB port on my iMac. The thing is, whenever there is an alert sound like when an alert box comes up or I empty the trash, the sound plays through the built in speakers even though in the sound prefs it says "Play alerts and sound effects through: Soundsticks." All other audio is fine and comes out of the Soundsticks.

are all the other sounds played through your soundsticks or is it just alert sounds

Try telling it to play everything through the built in speakers, and then switch it back to the good ones.. then back to the built in, and lastly to the nice ones. see if that helps.
