Audio problems in iMovie 11 from iPhone

Hi,
I'm trying to import some video clips shot in my iPhone 4 into iMovie 11 but something is causing the audio to mess up. The audio seems to be importing at a higher speed than the video, meaning that the people talking in the clip sound like they've been having some fun with helium. There is a gap towards the end of the video clip with no audio. The clips are fine when played back on my iPhone.

I've imported other clips from my DSLR which are absolutely fine so I don't think it's a global iMovie issue.

Google has failed to provide an answer to this...

HELP!
