Hello everyone,

I've got an old TV show that's not going on DVD any time soon (it's been 20 years), so I'm in the process of transferring it from VHS to digital using the VIDBOX converter that I picked up from Amazon. Everything worked well, I got an episode transferred and ran it through Handbrake so that I could compress the file size. However, when I play the file on my MacBook Air, it's coming out of both speakers but when I try to watch it on my TV it only comes out of my front right speaker. If it's stereo on my Mac, shouldn't it be stereo on my TV?

I think you answered the question. Is it in fact stereo on the Mac?

We can't see the setting you used to make and then compress the file but it could be "mono". Different playback equipment handles mono differently. The Mac might play it through all speakers and some other devices only through the left side.

I'd check to see if it is, in fact, a two-channel stereo file.
