Audio stopping and starting with wired headphones

I have a Mac Studio with a FiiO JadeAudio KA3 Headphone Amp. My Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm wired headphones are connected.

The audio stops and starts when I listen to music, which is annoying. This problem does not happen when I use my 1st gen AirPod Pros. This is playing directly from Apple Music. Is there anything I can do on this front? I'm not even sure how to go about diagnosing the problem.

How about if you play audio from a DIFFERENT source?

Such as, on-disk mp3's or something like that?

Is it still "halting" when you do things that way?
