Audio stuttering and briefly cutting out

Macbook Pro Retina running OS X 10.10, 2.6 Ghz Intel Core, 8 gb ram. New macbook, bought a couple months back.

Every once in a while, the audio will stutter and briefly pause and then skip ahead. It happens with iTunes as well as internet applications and sites. Any suggestions?
