Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem. I have a 2013 macbook pro and an airplay speaker. When I play music on my itunes the sound streams to my speaker without any problem. But as soon as I put on a movie (on itunes) the audio starts playing on my laptop and the airplay icon disappears. To clarify I am trying to watch movies on my laptop but only stream the audio through airplay into my airplay speaker. Is there any reason why it does not work?
Hope someone could help me with this.

Thank You for Your answer. I checked the forum and from what I read it seems to me that they are able to stream audio to their airplay speaker only it's couple seconds delayed. My audio just won't stream at all when playing a film.

On Mavericks, you can select the audio output by holding down the "option" key while clicking on the volume icon in the taskbar: select "Airplay" as audio output.
(or go to System Preferences and select Airplay as output).

This does work for iTunes as well, even while watching a movie.
