Audiobooks from Mac to iPod Nano

I can see how to sync audiobooks that I have downloaded pre Catalina, because I could do that in iTunes. But from Audible new audiobooks download ok but then I can't see them to sync to the iPod. So I'm guessing I need to copy/move them somewhere so that they are seen, but where?
