Hi all,

We're pleased to announce the public beta of AudioGopher, an iphone app that allows you to your favorite parts of a sound track. Use it to skip to interesting sections of a podcast, chapters in an audio book, or songs from a concert.

You can download AudioGopher at http://bit.ly/xHYJKk (open the link on your iphone/ipod touch) . We’re using TestFlight.com for distributing beta builds; it’s a pretty awesome service that makes ad-hoc app distribution relatively painless.

Here’s a summary of features in this first beta release:

- play any audio file from your Music (i.e. iTunes) library
- fast-forward and reverse using an iPod classic-type jog wheel
- tap a button to mark a point in the audio file; add up to 100 markers per file
- enter custom text for a marker by tapping the marker’s popup
- jump to any marker by double-tapping it, or by tapping the previous/next marker buttons

AudioGopher automatically loads existing podcast or audiobook chapters, so you don’t have to re-enter anything.

We’ve been doing some low-key private testing for a few weeks now, so hopefully we’ve taken care of all the serious bugs and functional deficiencies.

Check it out now and let us know what you think!
