I am part of the Apple Upgrade Program and have successfully upgraded pretty seamlessly each year using the Apple app or site. I am considering switching to the Xfinity Mobile (not 100% yet).

xfinity Mobile isn’t an option when doing the upgrade option on Apple. Would I have to essentially get the phone from Xfinity come release time? Can’t pick up at Apple Store like usual?

Unfortunately the iPhone upgrade program requires a postpaid carrier account. Supposedly you can use somebody else’s account if they are ok with it and then put the xfinity sim in, but it’s definitely not as easy..

Hmmm, When i bought my sim free - no carrier -11 Pro Max last year I was given Apple Upgrade program as an option. I chose no carrier as I use Total Wireless Prepaid (Verizon MVNO). I remember it because of the required Applecare. Not sure if it would have been rejected if I chose it but it was definitely a choice and I gave no mention of any carrier when I ordered.

Edit: I guess I was hallucinating because I just tried to do a sim-free purchase and that option was not there but was for a carrier. I can swear it was there last September.

Idk... if you try to upgrade per the Apple store application the following notes come up. Seems pretty cut and dry to me, doesn’t mean there aren’t workarounds though.
