AUP - does carrier matter?

Before the AUP came along I was able to freely pick between ATT, Verizon, or T-Mobile as the carrier in the event the Apple store ran out of stock for my actual carrier (T-Mobile). With the AUP, would the same apply? For the AUP last year I managed to grab a T-Mobile one during the reservation, but none for the model I want are available now, so I am hoping that it wouldn't matter if I picked ATT or Verizon instead.

Anyone know?
