Aurora Feint: Beginning - Why can't I level up?

Hey guys,
I've been playing Aurora Feint: Beginning for a few weeks now and I'm having alot of trouble figuring out what's going on. I've been able to purchase alot of stuff and solve them at the smith/tower, but I'm still at level 0. Am I doing something wrong???
