Hi

I am curious as to the justification of the Australia phone prices for the new iPhone 5S or any previous models.

The 5s starts at $899, $999 and then $1099AU.

Why is this different to the states. You can not tell me the dollar is that much different or that shipping costs. Bearing in mind that as the dollar changes the cost for the phone doesnt.

Any one with ideas?

Amanda

I'm not sure where you got your pricing information from, but it differs from the Apple website.

iPhone 5S prices are - A$869, A$999, and A$1,129
iPhone 5C prices are - A$739 and A$869

Yes they are the prices as you mentioned but why is it $299 for the 32gb 5S in America and $999 here in Australia?

its $299 with a contract. I am sure that if you go to Telstra you can get it cheaper too.

iPhones outside of the US are always a little more expensive, since they hedge a lot against currency fluctuations (Usually around $100). On top of that in Australia you pay 10% tax.

But the price did increase for the 16GB from $799 (iPhone 5 previously) to $869, which is most likely due to the fall of the AUD against the USD (Around 10% since May).

The pricing is the same it has always been, except that they added another 10% on top to consider the 10% AUD drop.

Also remember the US outright prices most often are before tax. But the Australian outright prices are after tax. Big difference.
