An Austrian man has handed himself into police after allegedly hacking his wife, seven-year-old daughter, parents and father-in-law to death with axe.

The unnamed 39-year-old walked into a police station in Vienna and confessed that the bodies of his wife and daughter were in his flat, police said.

His parents were found dead in Linz, 180km (112 miles) west of Vienna, and his father-in-law in nearby Ansfelden.
BBC.

Crikey, fun times in Austria recently  How awful :(

That's grusome.
I actually thought this thread was going to be about some family whose computers had been hacked so badly is was comical... This is terrible.

"Raises hand" – no, we are not all lunatics over here...

Though it seems like it lately. :(

I can't understand such things, no matter who does it or where it happens. Something is seriously wrong with some people, and I'm pretty sure this guy for example hasn't played too much Counter Strike or listened to too much Marilyn Manson.

Yep, our situation is turning more US-like every day. ;)

WTF are they putting in the water over there?
When it rains, it pours.

Austria's image is taking a pounding right now, although it's a beautiful country, and the people are very nice. All the crazies happen to be coming out of their homes at the same time.

Nerd much? ;)

I don't know, somehow it feels strange that for example people on this board will think of child abuse and axe murderers now when they read my location.

No one will think this of you personally, although your nationality may serve as a reminder to the recent gruesome news from your country. Don't worry, you'll get used to this. I'm from California and I lived in Europe for several years just after freeway shootings became common. Wherever I went, one of the first questions people asked me was about the freeway shootings. I never took it personally, but it was obvious the reputation Americans had among the Europeans (and rightfully so).

I don't know if I would say rightfully so... I travel to Vienna (Wien) often and I am always asked about big cars and oil when I am there... would it be right for me to ask the Austrians about axe murder, incest and family slavery? No...
