I had an issue which resulted in me taking my imac to have tiger reinstalled. Now I'm busy trying to put certain programs etc back on board, installer asks me for my password, i put it in, then i get the error message that ive entered an invalid password ( i haven't).
Is there a chance the the local independent specialist put his own password on? Can I override it?

if he re-installed Tiger for you, he would have had to enter a password for the admin account when it asks for one.

I don't know why you took it in (unless you don't have the tiger discs), or why he didn't tell you the password he put in, if any.

Did you give him your password for him to use when re-making the account? If not he probably put something on his own, which could be as simple as "password" or maybe he left it blank.

If he left it blank, don't type anything into the field, just hit OK. If that is invalid, try "pass" "password" "admin" -- if those also fail you should ask him what password he put on there.

In the event that you do infact get access back, enter system preferences, "accounts", and change your password.
