Auto App update?

Hey guys, i just got my brand new Iphone 8plus, I'm having an issue where I'm noticing that the appstore won't tell me when there is an update to an app. It's only when I open up the app and give it a second that it shows That there are app updates, This happened twice today already.

So I am not seeing the badge icon for updates and it doesn't seem like the apps are downloading the updates as they should be. Any Help?

Are auto app updates enabled? Sometimes it takes a day or two before they might automatically show up and get installed. With a brand new iOS version and App Store redesign it seems like there might be some slowness and/or glitches when it comes to it all as well.
