I know windows has this feature. I was wondering if OS X does. Every time I delete something off my desktop I have to rearrange everything so there will be no gaps.

In finder, go to view, view options, and then check snap to grid. Does that fix your problem?

That keeps everything in a neat grid. But if you wan t it to auto-arrange stuff, that is also possible. In View Options choose something from 'Keep agran ged by' and then it has Name, Date, etc. If you do this it will uncheck Snap to grid but it does this automatically when this setting is ticked anyway. If you retick snap to grid it won't auto-arrange> Took me a few days to figure out why it kept turning off auto-arrange :)

I've never been able to figure this out... It's one of those "I must get round to understanding what OS-X expects of me here" things... any suggestions welcomed!
