Maybe this has been around for a while, but I noticed that the auto-brightness function finally works the way I expect in 7.0.4 - not only the screen becomes brighter under strong ambient light, but it also dims when it's dark around... As far as I remember, you had to lock and unlock the screen to get the display to dim before, no need to do that any more! :D

Worked for me. Since beta 1 it has worked like that for me..

It does go down gradually. When exposed to high amounts of light it shoots up. Then when the light is taken away the brightness goes down slowly. I'm assuming its so your eyes can adjust. Good guy Apple <3 #

Works great for me since forever.
Go under a blanket and wait a bit and set brightness to desired level.

Open control center and go back under blanket and watch brightness slider slide back to your desired level.
Repeat.

I noticed this too, ever since iOS 7 but not sure when. I also remember the days of locking/unlocking the phone when it was super bright.

hmmm never had issues with auto-brightness on my iPhone 5 but with iPad mini, damn it was buggy feature, never worked as it should
