auto brightness makes the screen too much dim

Hi, I have a macbook pro 2011 and I kinda like the concept behind auto brightness. But theres a problem I've been suffering from. When I go to a bright room the auto brightness sets the screen brightness level to high. But when I come back to my room which is where I was previously, the screen brightness goes down to the lowest level.
