Why does the screen seem dimmer at full brightness when auto brightness is turned on but when you turn off the auto brightness the screen is so much brighter at full brightness?

Maybe because the primary purpose of auto brightness is to save battery power - and the brighter the screen, the more power it takes.

I don’t this you may have understood my question, i am aware it’s suppose to safe on battery but what I am asking is why is it when you auto brightness on and you have the slider all the way up it’s dimmer then if you were to have the auto brightness turned off and the slider all the way up does that make more sense?

Maybe because Full brightness when auto brightness is off consumes way too much power - so to avoid that, they don’t even let the screen go full brightness when set to auto. If you want full brightness- then turn off auto brightness.
I don’t know. Just guessing, but Apple software is a warehouse of mysteries.
I wouldn’t spend much time wondering why Apple does something. Their design choices rarely agree with what I want.
