iPad Auto correct and iOS shortcuts with bluetooth keyboard

I'm delighted with my Logitech ULtrathin BT keyboard but I really miss the autocorrect and other shortcuts and in particular the double tap of the space bar to give a full stop and capitalise the first letter of the next sentence. Just in case I'm missing something obvious, is there any way to enable this on the BT keyboard?

I have the same keyboard for my iPad mini and I also notice autocorrect doesn't work, but it will offer a word correction if you delete back to the misspelled word. I also wish the keyboard had a key to activate the dictation microphone, as has been discussed many times before. Even with these shortcomings, I find the keyboard to be extremely helpful.
