Guys, here's the thing... Note: I am using the iPAD PRO 10.5.

If we want to save more battery we should always let this option enabled. Right?

https://www.imore.com/how-change-auto-lock-your-iphone-and-ipad

However I purchased both the Smart Cover and KHOMO rear case.

So I can use this feature from the Cover:

Wake on open. Sleep on close.

Open the Smart Cover, and iPad magically wakes up. Close it, and iPad automatically goes to sleep.

If I leave the Smart Cover closed (meaning the iPAD sleeping) does that mean I should always disable auto-lock (set to NEVER)?

I don't like the idea of having to press the HOME BUTTON to continue using my iPAD. And I don't need to use any password for it (or Touch ID). Since I can leave the iPAD unprotected and can make it go to sleep by closing the Smart Cover I don't need auto-lock.

Is that correct?

Or if I don't enable auto-lock at all my iPAD will somehow continue to waste battery even if the Smart Cover is closed and the device is not being used?

Leave Auto-Lock at 2 minutes ( for best battery use & brightness to 50% ).
Smart Cover sleep/wake is a completely separate feature and not related.

Smart Cover will autowake / autosleep your iPad upon opening and closing. You've got it. That's it. It just saves a step in the 'start/stop using' process.

NEVER set the autolock to NEVER. If you close your iPad and the magnets don't happen to line up once time, it will not go to sleep automatically at the 2 minute mark. You will pull your iPad out and it will be surprisingly dead. As an aside and very small thing... the display has a lifespan, albeit quite long. But I don't want half of my display life being used because I forgot to 'put it to sleep' one night and have it running all weekend on battery at my house. That's quite a few hours just brightening up a drawer.
