Auto Log in greyed out

Just bought a Mac mini and popped Big Sur on like I have on my MacBook Air and I can't automatically log in on the Mac mini. The option is greyed out but not on the MacBook.

Mac mini 2018 went from whatever was installed from brand new to beta 9 , the MacBook has been incremental from beta1.

How can I get around this ? I've tried the obvious via setting and users and groups.
