I am thinking of getting the new Maxtor network HD but only if it auto mounts when I start one of my Macs, is this possible? Thanks.

Yes, it can be automounted. Just mount your share as you normally do, and then drag the icon into System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items tab. This is how I mount my Linksys NSLU2 share.

Enjoy.

Fantastic, if it was possible to get excited about mounting a HD I would be!

Exactly. I always kept the location icon (it was usually afp://whatever) in my documents folder and had my Login Items point to that.
