iPod touch Auto Sleep when unplugged App

Does anyone know of an app that will put the iPod Touch in sleep mode (stop playing music as well) or turn it off when it is unplugged and unlock or turn it back on when it is plugged back in? I have installed an iPod Touch in my wife's car and have it outputting the display to the display in the car, but it stays on even after the car is off, so I would like to set it up to turn off or go to sleep to conserve power when the car is off.

If you are jailbroken, is there anything in Activator which will allow you to do that?
