every time I upgrade the OS, software update's auto-checking feature gets turned on, though I have always had it turned off. is there some master setting that i need to change, or is it apple that is doing this?

i hate that though, that's why I disabled it. I don't want to be told when to download stuff, and I don't like the idea of the my comp connected to apple w/out me knowing it. besides, I don't upgrade till I've read at least a few reviews and reports and stuff for bugs....
