I know there is a thread asking about it, but it deserves its own so people dont waste 6 bucks. The app works as advertised. When you lock the phone it will switch to edge, and unlock it will switch to 3G. What it doesnt tell you is the fact that the phone needs about 20 seconds to gain a 3G ip address, so you wont be able to use it for 20 seconds after you unlock your phone.

Just keep it charged and save your money!

Best way to do it is just leave it on edge, and use 3G when you wanna surf. SBSettings!

I assume it was the case, because if you toggle 3G on / off, it does take some time to get it back. Thanks or sorry for being the test subject. :D

Are you guys using iPhone 4s? My battery lasts all day with 3G on and with moderate use, so I'm curious why you'd want to turn it off.

Exactly. If it switched back to 3G instantly and pulled an IP addy fast, it would be worth it... but its no better than just switching on edge and using 3G when needed.

It doesn't take 20 seconds for mines...more like 2 seconds.

Oh ya? Try surfing the web just after it changes to 3G. Pull down your SBSettings which shows your data IP. It will take quite a while to pull an address. 2 seconds is literally impossible so you know. E -> 3G letter changing doesnt mean you are actually able to use the data.

Could this be network dependant? My iPhone on o2 takes ages to get an IP address when I switch to 3G, hence I wouldn't waste my money on this. However my friend on vodafone seems to acquire an address almost instantly.

Having said that there are issues with it anyway regardless of how quickly it finds that address as mentioned in other posts, such as music streaming that will cut out once you lock the screen.

tried this app, only to learn my provider has only 3G , no EDGE, so sleeping my phone would = No Service

Thanks for being the guineapig.:) Wouldn't the 3G sbsettings toggle take the same time to connect to 3G like this app and with this app you basically cut one step of the process? Did you find when you received emails, Skype, I'M while sleeping the phone on edge to reach late or consume more battery due to the extra download time?

Amazing how much the developer is charging for this feature. I would way prefer to use SBSettings in lockscreen to quickly turn 3G off and on.

Yeah these developers are getting a little greedy with pricing IMO

It's funny you say that, I was just thinking that the other day....I can remember back in the 3.0 days. There were TONS more FREE apps.

I guess devs are just trying to get paid.

I think they just throw a price on it see how many suckers they can get. It's not like they can't lower the price latter or after a while make it free. Sure people will complain but not much they can do about it. However 6 bucks for this is crazy stupid imo.

I used this today and I will say this, it does whats it's supposed to be but way overpriced! It should be 99 cents.

By the time I unlock my phone, open safari, and type in an address I have an data ip.

The app is crap, my phone went into safemode constantly when I had it installed. Good thing I didnt waste $5 on it.

Actually testing via cracked Apps are the most reliable test for paid versions. I not going to beat you up to much on this one only because I think the Dev is crazy on his price.

I have no problem paying for apps whenever there reasonably priced. I GLADLY paid my 8.99 for BITEsms but when a new untested app is out, I'm not going to pay $5.99 to be a guinea pig. I tested it out, hated it, deleted it. Every app should have at least a 12 hr trial IMHO.
