autocorrect corrects to a misspelled word

I just purchased Pages - 4.1 (923)

I activated "automatically use spell checker suggestions" in the preferences menu. And most of the time it works fine.

But, whenever I type "couldn't" or "shouldn't" Pages changes it to "could't" and "should't", dropping the n.

I haven't made any changes to the dictionary that I can recall.

Suggestions?

I looked for previous discussion on this and couldn't find any. If there is, please point me there?
