I have reset my keyboard dictionary multiple times and it's still doing this. When I type Lol, Idk or other short acronyms as the first word in a sentence it autocorrects them to lowercase as lol and idk, even after hitting x and manually correcting it multiple times. I'm so frustrated right now, has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried entering them in Shortcuts the way you want them to appear? I don't know if that affects the case, but it's worth a shot if you haven't already.

Oh good idea, thanks. Why is it doing this, though?

Probably because the phone now recognizes them as words, but treats them like regular words and capitalizes them automatically.

No re-read my op. I'm saying it lowercases them at the beginning of a sentence where they should be capitalized.

Probably because the system thinks that they are proper nouns like trademarks, so it autocorrects them to the way you typed them most often in the past.

But shouldn't resetting my keyboard dictionary fix this?

Resetting your keyboard dictionary erases all of that.

Yes, I am also very frustrated by this. No matter how many DOZENS of times I have selected "Lol" as what I prefer to use to start a sentence, it still selects "lol" as the default. Considering this is probably the number one most commonly used acronym in the texting universe, it is annoying how remarkably dumb the iPhone is when it comes to things like this.

Hey look I'm not crazy

Hey look I'm not crazy

I'm more inclined to say "the blind leading the blind". You and he should commiserate together.

Siri is stupid, but the dictionary works as advertised.

How are you calling us blind?? It is people like you turning a blind eye to glaring flaws like this.

More likely that most people aren't really experiencing most of these kinds of "flaws".

Most of these are not subjective, whether or not someone notices or chooses to acknowledge them is one thing, but it is clear they exist.

Not necessarily. Many/most people are likely not experiencing the autocorrect oddities mentioned in this thread, or staying logged into sites, or various other things.

I completely agree with you both. The autocorrect of Lol to lowercase at the beginning of a sentence is so frustrating!! It's 4th grade English. Come on, Apple!

I don't think you quite understand what we're referring to... but hey, thanks for the thinly veiled insult

I have a solution.

Add the acronyms under text replacement. Do one for capital and one for lowercase. The phone will recognize both as words and not change default capitalization.

Lol —> Lol
lol —> lol
