Is there anything I can do to change my autocorrection to not always turn "wtf" into "WTF" other than canceling the autocorrection each time I type it?

After you cancel it a few times in a row it'll learn your preferred formatting.
Literally in a row? I've canceled it numerous times since owning my phone. But never in a row.

Ha, I think it should be Capitals....
I use capital when it should be capital. But there have been plenty of times when I accidentally send it as capital and it makes it seem much more dramatic than it should be which looks weird for the person on the other end.

I agree. However when I type in lol it comes out as Lol. I'd prefer it to correct it to LOL if possible.
Anyone know how you can change a word in the dictionary to your preferred spelling?

hahaha. so true.

I'm still curious about this. My phone also won't learn "hell". Instead it always autocorrects to "he'll" and I usually accidentally sent it. Weh.

Haha I have the same problem and it irritates me to no end!

I assumed it would learn after a few times but it hasnt

in fact, i just typed it 25 times, and each time it tried to autocorrect to WTF and i had to cancel the correction.

blurg.

I don't believe the iPhone autocorrect will learn new words.

I've heard that it simply learns our preference on words that it DOES already have in its dictionary.

As for "WTF", it seems to be a case where it simply assumes it's an acronym and so should be capitalized.

It does learn new words, mine learned to recognize CHEESEBURGEREMERGENCY.

Someone should create a caps lock toggle Just like a regular keyboard
I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but you can toggle caps lock on your iPhone by double tapping the (shift) arrow on the keypad.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I miss my Blackberry's auto text where I would type "wer"+space and it'll give me "we're". Wish there was a way to add custom text shortcuts on the iPhone.

Yeah! Custom shortcuts would be sick. I never thought of that.

Oh it most definitely does. Mine AC's screwy stuff like "Yeppppp" which I can't have typed more than once. Now it always changes as to "a's" because I typed it once. The he'll crap annoys the hell out of me...

After doing some research I found an arstechnica article about this.

Apparently the best way to teach your phone words is to go to Safari and google the word. Once you have googled the word it will be learned by the phone and it will even offer to auto complete that word if you start spelling it.

This is something I tried and can vouch for.

Actually it was an appletell article that credited arstechnica with the information.

^^^Nada tostada. Just tried this like 20 times. Still wants to autocorrect "hell" into "he'll".

Not that it matters. I type that word so much that I've "autocorrected" myself to just push the little x button to stop the autocorrection every time.

My theory is that it changes wtf to WTF because it makes the sender look stupid. After feeling that feeling of stupidity so many times after typing "wtf" it'll drill into your subconscious and you'll stop saying wtf. I think it's Apple's way of censoring the world one word at a time.

When I saw your name in the last post column I knew I'd be in for reading a lousy attempt at a troll post. Congratulations, you are the most boring and just terrible on-going troll I know of! You're bad at sarcasm, don't sound badass or rebellious like you try so hard to do, and aren't even slightly entertaining. You'd think you would have realized that and tried something new by now, lol.

easy, dude
