(Admittedly a first-world problem)
Finally getting some summer sun here in Northern Europe! We have reorganized the kitchen and I find myself often sitting at the counter-top with the MBP 16" M3 (2023). When the sun falls in from the window at a certain angle the screen goes completely dark. At first I thought the computer had crashed and forced a rebbot, but next time I noted a small hit of screen content. I then made a small adjustment of the position of the laptop and the screen slowly went back to normal.
After being annoyed with this multiple times I disabled "Automatically adjust brightness" under Displays and now live on the edge - this warning seems serious...!

Some kind of refraction in the sensor?

So the ambient light sensor is working as intended. The warning really isn't anything more than common knowledge in that screen brightness can have a massive impact on battery life regardless of device.

I found this thread trying to some a similar problem. I use a large monitor with my MacBook. I don't want to use the MacBook screen at the same time. I want it to be off. I set the screen brightness to zero. I set the 'Automatically adjust brightness' setting off.

Yet still the MacBook's build in screen brightness keeps being automatically increased. Very annoying.
