On behalf of a friend: can iPhone 5 firmware updates (the ones where you see the red dot on the silver cog Settings icon) be set to be done automatically so you don't have to anything like it's done with PCs? What about automatic updates for Apps? And in terms of turning something on or off with the switches, green indicates that it's on?

Thanks.

"Firmware" iOS updates aren't done automatically as you have to agree to have them installed (although they can be downloaded automatically and ready for installation). App updates can be setup to be done automatically (as of iOS 7), it's a setting that can be found in Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads section, Updates setting.
