OK, so it happened to me again today... looking at the forum front page and I see a post under Community Discussion called "another caption contest". Thinking it's going to be some sort of funny picture that needs a caption, I click on the link.

Surprise, surprise: It's in the Politics forum and (as usual) a bunch of people are making fun of the President.

Can the vBulletin software be configured to add some sort of tag to the title of every post in the Politics forum ("POLITICS:", for example) so that people who want nothing to do with that forum don't accidentally keep opening posts there?

I do not believe there is a plugin modification for this.

And FYI yes it was a funny picture that needs a caption

another FYI, if you go to new posts it says it on the right hand side where the post is from

It says political forum on my computer

It's the view from /index.php where you can't see if a new post is in a subforum or not.

I never look at the main page for this very reason

just go to new posts, a lot easier

I don't use the New Posts feature... never have, never will.

just as i never bother to look at the posts on the index of the site. and never will.

I believe they can add an if clause for forumdisplay 47, depending on how intergrated their CMPS is to the forums.

Sure, but that doesn't mean I can't ask for software tweaks that might help to protect against accidental exposure to Politics threads. And I said "as much", not "at all". :)

For god sake clay, get over it. Who cares if people are making fun of the president????? Well, ok, maybe you. But we're certainly not about to flag up threads like this that are already clearly separated enough by BEING in the Politics forum
Uh, they're not separated as much as you think. I think that's one of the points I made originally... they show up on the front page with no indication whatsoever as to where they are.

I don't see the harm in my asking... no need for you to get YOUR knickers in a twist.

No one (accept apparently you) NEEDS "protecting" from it

Besides, technically there is no Politics forum. It's called "Politics, Religion, Social Issues". Frequently there are religious discussions in there too. No need to tag those as "Politics" (although seemingly the two are becoming quite close in some places).

And there is the problem of your making, sort of like this President and Iraq.

indeed there is a way to fix this problem of yours with the political forum yet you refuse to use the fix.

My knickers are fine and dandy thanks. I just don't see why you continue to have such a big issue with seeing anything to do with the political forums. If it gets YOUR knickers in such a twist, be grown up about it and just rise above it, let it go over your head...and other such sayings basically meaning ignore it.
