Automatically adjust brightness fails

in 10.14.2, i'm trying to set auto-brightess.. but its dead...I have tried reducing the brightness manually in Display settings, the tick the checkbox, but didn't help in same lighing conditions.

Also tried SMB/PRAM reset... Anything else can do?
 
I noticed that alot of the time my auto brightness is simply just wrong. The wallpaper shows that the sun is just coming up when its been up for 2-3 hours and I have to adjust the brightness manually. I've check the location etc and the MAC knows where I am so it would appear that were ever its getting sunrise/sunset information from it is wrong. Its a pita because I end up adjusting the brightness once or twice a day or just turning it off on 10.14.2.
