automatically brightness - display

hi everyone,

in system preferences i had automatically brightness on. the display changes also brightness when brightness in room changes. but in system information graphics i get 'Automatically Adjust Brightness: No'.

i have this on my imac m1 also on my macbook pro m1 with big sur and also now with monterey. on my old intel macbook pro 15 late 2013 with big sur. the information in system information is 'Automatically Adjust Brightness: yes'

so has anyone here also this issue. can this be fixed with some setting. will a reinstallation of the os without data recovery fix this?
