Is it possible to automatically delete every comment that says only, "This".

I realise that I now leave myself open to an ironic avalanche of "This" comments.

Huh?

Elaborate more, I'm confused

There are often posts just containing "+1" or "this" or similar single worded replies. As they violate forum rules, the OP thinks it would be nice, for them to be automatically deleted.
Though with every automation, it can be circumvented, one could just say "This +1" or "this lol" and so on.

It might be easier to just use the REPORT BAD POST button and let one of the mods delete it. They need this work anyway.

This. Also why not have a minimum word count before a reply can be posted. Make it so it has to be at least 5 words or so? I have no problem with someone writing 'This' is they follow it up with their own point

Well when I read "this" I think of it as: "Yes, this is the correct answer!" :)

(I will now remove my Captain Obvious costume.)

Agreed, the issue for me is that "This" and "+1" adds absolutely nothing to any conversation.

I can however imagine it being used in meetings at banks.

Limiting the character requirement for a reply is rather unfair to not only the person making the reply but to the person asking the question.

Just yesterday I responded to a Yes or No question from a user, and my response was a simple No, this is all the OP was looking for and was not mad because that was a response they were expecting. Limiting the character requirement for a reply would mean that people would not be allowed to ask Yes or No questions because no one be able to reply.

iAgree.

Responding "This" helps me determine that this was the better response of all the replies, and in a situation where someone is troubleshooting an issue, it re-affirms that this advise is the best to follow.

I will add that this is already against the rules and up to this point it has been enforced but not heavily,

2.Useless and one-word posts. Do not bother making posts with only one or two words (e.g., "cool" or LOL) or a smilie, or post simply to have the first reply in a thread. Such posts waste everyone's time and will be deleted. Posts saying "I agree", "+1", "this", "me too", or the equivalent are also routinely removed, so don't post them. If you aren't interested in a thread, skip the thread; don't post to tell us you aren't interested. If you celebrate making the first post in a news thread, your post will be deleted.

So as your asking that you want Moderators to starts heavily enforcing his rule?

^That. :D

Really, just report it. Many legit answers are one or two words. Just report the ones that aren't.

The voting buttons should have reduced the need for "This" and other I agree kind of posts.

I personally don't care for the voting system and avoid participating, I'm also not one to respond "this" or "+1", but it doesn't bother me when others do it.

But I see your point.

wait, is this an elaborate "I agree" type of post?

From what I see the voting system has more to do with voting down some people's posts and less to do about decreasing the number of +1 or "this" type posts.

I agree.

Now here are some other words to raise my character count in hopes that my post doesn't get deleted for being to short.

"This" and "+1" are not "Yes" and "No".

My issue is not with questions that can be answered simply, but with junk posts.

I was agreeing with the point that AAPLaday made about posting a legitimate answer in addition to saying "this". Saying "this" on its own, is utterly pointless.

This, this, this, this, THIS! :D

Seriously though, just ignore the posts. Yeah, it's nice if someone adds a couple of lines of their own thoughts after it, but its not that big a deal if they don't.
