Automatically resend failed text messages?

Hey guys,

So I finally got on the iPhone bandwagon (yay!) - what took me so long? Seriously, this thing is awesome.

I have one problem which is slightly irking me, I have to confess.

Basically my home is in a low signal area of the English countryside, which is lovely but equally frustrating, and thus as I move around the house with my phone i may receive messages and by the time I have read an replied lost the signal. Now with every other phone I have owned, I could write my reply and then leave the phone and it would send the message when it comes into signal. I cannot for the life of me seem to replicate this functionality on the iPhone, it seems I have to manually click resend when I come into signal which is a bit of a pain to be honest with you.


Does anyone know of a way to implement this auto-resend function? I just cant seem to find it in the settings on in other posts on the forum.

I agree that this problem is a pain, but its one that we have to deal with at this point. I had my friend text me two days ago, I replied, she texted me again yesterday asking if i was mad because I haven't responded to her... and I realized that it didn't go though.

So, bad news, there is no way to automatically resend.

Ah that sucks. Will send Apple a feature request, I think.

I've yet to have a SMS fail to send, but i do keep getting failed MMS attepts, which does get annoying.

I do agree there needs to be some kind of auto re-send, or at least let the phone make a noise to let you know it's failed, as i've sent pictures before, waited ages for a response only to check the messages and see it's failed! Handy, lol!

Old thread, but can't believe this issue still exists.

Even worse, the '!' icon over the Messages app disappears if you open the Messages app even if don't manually resend the failed text.

Not heard any word that iOS 7 has any functionality to combat this.

Seeing as iOS 7 sends a failed iMessage as an SMS right away, I wonder if it'll resend failed SMS's automatically now?

Doesn't seem to. I just get the ! Failed to send message. Then you can manually choose to resend or resend as text.
