Hi,

Running Mojave, as of today, but same problem with High Sierra.

Would like to use the app Automator.

Can't seem to get to work.

I have a bunch of icons in the Dock, many of which have the dot underneath them.
My understanding is that this means they are running.

I created the Automator with the Quit All Applications option.
(selected and moved to right hand pane; tried dragging and also double-clicking to get it there.)
Then did a SAVE.

Would like to Quit their running, all of them, with a simple click on the desktop icon for this app that I now have created.

Sure seems like i did everything correctly, but obviously not.

When i click on the desktop icon for it, nothing opens or changes.
Those dots under the icons on the Dck are still there.

There is however a spinning gear icon in the upper bar.
Will try to show it below. [it says: 0% completed (Quit All Applications)]

What am I likely not doing, or doing incorrectly ?

Read somewhere about need to add a Script to close out Finder (first) ?
But the App makes no mention of this requirement ?

Thanks, Bob

I use automator to do exactly this. I use it to quit all apps, when I do system updates. I hate the automatic restart that also opens all my apps after. It is a mess.

I have my automator action saved as an application, do you have that too?
Hold down the option key then pulling down the "File" menu and select "Save As" and then save as an application
