Hello All,

I am new here, have zero coding knowledge, and hope you guys can help. I have spent many days trying to find the answer, using various scripts and sites, and thought it was time I manned-up and asked. :)

Here is what I am trying to achieve:

  1. An image file is received, renamed and placed in a folder watched by Automator
  2. Automator is invoked to process an email message using Mail (all core fields are populated - see image example)
  3. The renamed image file is attached to the email
  4. The Subject field is pre-populated with a few static tags / text (all good so far)
  5. At this point I would like to do two things, but for now I will focus on the most pressing, which is the Subject filed
  6. HELP Required: I would like to add the file name, minus the extension (PNG / JPG etc.) into the subject field while preserving the existing tags / text
  7. Automator would then process as per the rest of the workflow
Everything I have tried so far has not quite got me to the result I need. I have looked at using Applescripts, which work as standalone and even Droplets, but this is a dynamic requirement that needs updating regularly and the automator process makes this easier that re-writing script where errors can creep in!

My other requirement I would like to resolve, is random content in the message filed. This is for live events where random quotes of tweet style (using @person tags and #Tags) text would be added into the message.

I have tried using multiple signatures, but Mail overwrites these! I even tried SigPro, but once the attachment is included I seem to have all of the random signatures that I have created included in the message. This only happens when the process is run through Automator! If I use SigPro manually, as with many of the scripts I have found all is well, it's when used in Automator things fail.

I would be happy creating an external file with the random text required, which is then inserted into the message body, and I am sure there is a way to do this, but my lack of scripting skills is just driving me mad.

Hopefully that outlines my needs, and someone can help.
