Hi
I have a spreadsheet that was originally created in Excel 2003 (Windows) & I'm now using it with Excel 2008 (Mac).

It's a list of books & I had a macro in it that, on opening, sorted it by author.

I've managed to use Automator to get it to open, sort - though for some reason it remains minimised, so I have to click on the Excel icon to see it. BUT ... it's very slow - I know that Excel isn't the speediest of things to open, but it feels a lot slower than waiting for Excel to open without the automation. (And definitely slower than it was on the PC).

I've used the option of saving the Workflow as an application, so it runs automatically, without me having to select run.

I also looked at Apple Script, but that seemed strangely reluctant to pick up on what I was doing in Excel (I've not used Apple Script before, so maybe I should have done something more than just hitting "record").

Would Apple Script have made it any faster? If yes, then what do I have to do to persuade it to record what I'm doing in Excel. (I've tried with the GUI option on & off in the Script Editor)
