Hi,
I'm not very good at coding or scripting, but I need to get something done and was hoping Automator would be my savior, but unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to do this task..
The problem is I have a list of filenames contained in a text file that need to be deleted from certain folders. They're just a plain text file called something like files.rtf and the content looks like this:
file1.tmp
file2.tmp
file3.tmp
file4.tmp etc..
I have folders (both remote and local) with thousands of files. I get these text documents with lists of files that need to be specifically deleted or moved to another location.
What i'm trying to accomplish is to have automator search the filenames in the text file, then compare them with the actual files in the folder and ONLY show me the files that match.
Example:
The Folder contains the file names; file1.tmp through file20.tmp, but the text document only lists file1.tmp, file3.tmp and file5.tmp. I just want to see those files listed in the Finder list so I can easily copy them or delete them.
If Automator is not the way, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
