Automator: PDF workflows don't work!

Has anyone else tried to do the PDF workflows in Automator? I've tried getting a watermark going but it didn't work. So, I tried the other's like extracting odd pages, adding a password, adding a grid and none of them work! Has anyone else had any luck? Am I missing something?

I was reading somewhere that others were having problems with watermarking PDFs in particular. In that case, it seemed to be that for some reason, the created watermark file was being left in a temporary directory and you had to put a 'move' finder items to actually get them to appear in your normal workspace. I'm not on my Mac at the moment to test that out, but it might be worth a shot.

I ran the workflow and searched for ".pdf" and "[filetitle]" but nothing showed up apart from the original files. It's one of those things that I wouldn't think I'd need to use but now that I discovered Automator can do it, I'm listing all the opportunities for it! I just can't get it to work.
