Hi,
I use a VNC to remotely access my home computer. but I have a dynamic IP which changes from time to time. Several years ago I set up a mailbox rule and an Automator workflow to help with this. Basically, when my home computer receives an email with the subject What Is My IP? It runs an apple script that launches the following workflow:
1. Launch Application (Launches Chrome)
2. Get Specified URLs (Opens http://www.iplocation.net/find-ip-address)
3. Get Text From Webpage (Pulls text from site, including current IP address)
4. Copy to Clipboard (Copies text to clipboard)
5. Get Contents of Clipboard)
6. New Mail Message (Text gets appended to Mail Message)
7. Send Outgoing Messages (Sends Email)
This worked great for awhile, and I stopped needing it. Now, a few years later, I have tried it again, and while it works, it won't append the text to the mail message anymore - I just get a blank email. When I run the workflow, I can see that it does grab and copy the text. Any ideas?
FYI, it's a 2006 C2D iMac 6,1 running 10.7.5
Thanks,
Scott
