hello all, i need to use my macbook pro as a monitor from an AV source, if i buy one of these av to mini dvi adapters will i be able to use the MB as a monitor? basically, i have a remote camera, a wireless tx and rx and the rx has RCA VA outputs. i can buy an adapter cable, but will it work as a monitor? or should i be looking at a usb adapter?

Since the Mini DVI to whatever adapters are only one way, you cannot use the Mini DVI port as input, as it is not designed that way.

Depending on the source of your video, you might be able to get a Video Converter, that connects via USB, but that will not allow you to use the MB as a simple monitor, it will just give you a window (or several depending on the recording application coming with the hardware) with the video input signal displayed, which your might be able to resize to full screen or almost full screen.
