av programs suddenly will not open

all of a sudden when i click on ichat, skype, or gizmo world the application bounces and then freezes and i have to force quit from my dock. i've tried running yasu, creating a new user and attempting to open, repairing permissions, redownloading programs, but nothing works.

does anyone know why all of a sudden only my av chat programs would stop opening and how i might be able to fix this?

(i am using an ibook G4 with 10.3.9)
