In the app "bump" , you can compare the availability of 2 people's iCals by "bumping" phones.

Im wondering if the same functionality is possible but through push notifications and/or data exchange.

Just want to compare 2 people's iCals and return times when the other person is free

Or for example

I send someone an "availability" request via push notification. They accept. Then their iCal comes up on my screen.

Any possible way to do something like this?

Assuming they have your app on their phone then it can use the API (look in the documentation) to read the calendar on the remote phone and upload it to the server you sent the push notification from. From there you can send it back to the initiation phone or whatever.

But you have to do all the work here...
