Availability in Stores

has Apple said anything about the availability of models in their retail stores once available?

Nothing official, but (guesswork) it'll be several months most likely, I'd say June at the earliest but it could easily be July.

They have said this officially:

“To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period.”

My assumption is that the "initial launch period" will be until all the pre-orders have been filled.

I hope that online orders mean you can reserve and pickup in store but you can only make that reservation online. Just a wild hopeful guess.
