Well this is really confusing.

When I check my Macintosh HD space by right clicking the disk icon and getting info, it seems that I have around 150 gb of free space is available. However, when I check the free space through clicking space on the disk icon, Quick Look shows that I have only 50 gb of space available. I tried repairing the disk but nothing changed.

The problem occurred after upgrading to Mavericks.

I'm using 2012 15" MBP with Retina Display and OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Does anybody know what is going on here?

Are you using time machine and it may be the local storage or maybe the swap space.
