Plenty of forum members are noting that Apple has some stock of various AW models in their brick and mortar stores, yet are not showing that any are available for In-Store Pickup online. Clearly they are either logistically incompetent this year, or are utilizing a marketing tactic to use curiosity to drive folks physically into the store.

When do we expect this to no longer be the case? I'd love Apple to take my money for an AW Series 4, but am not parading around to various stores to track one down.

I walked into my apple store, Jacksonville Florida, and bought a 44 SS Gold Stone Sports Band at 4:40 pm. No pre-order, no hassle. Luck of the draw. I suppose it just depends on the store and a lil luck ;)

I thought Apple always did that on launch day with the iPhone. They always keep some inventory available for walk-ins that is separate from pre-orders. Unless you pre-ordered I don’t think the reserve for in-store pickup option is available until the day after launch.

My suggestion would be to wake up early tomorrow and start checking istocknow. The stores get new inventory every day and update the system each morning. I was able to get an IPX on the day after launch using this method last year when my pre-order was showing a 3-4 week wait.
